ABOUT
My Journey
My fascination with photography began long before the convenience of digital screens. It started with the tactile click of a shutter on an all-manual 35mm film camera. Learning the craft that way—mastering light, focus, and understanding composition from the ground up—ignited a lifelong passion. While my gear has evolved over the years from film to digital, and now to a modern mirrorless system, I’ve recently come full circle, adapting some vintage lenses to my camera. There's an intangible character in that old glass that helps me capture the world in unique ways.
That vision is deeply rooted in my love for the outdoors. My wife and I are avid hikers and campers, and for me, photography is an inseparable part of the experience. It’s driven by a simple but profound belief: leave only footprints, take only photos. My goal is to find the extraordinary in the seemingly ordinary, to uncover the subtle order within the beautiful chaos of nature, and to share the wonder of the world, both great and small.
Though I have been fortunate enough to travel some nationally and internationally, I was born and raised in Minnesota, and continue to be inspired from our various landscapes. There's a quiet, resilient beauty here that I believe is second to none. After seeing grand landscapes elsewhere, I find myself drawn back to the subtle tapestries of the North Shore, the rolling bluffs of the driftless area, and the vast, open skies of the prairie.
Through MnQuisitive Photography, I’m always curious on what is around the corner and I want to share the awe I feel for the natural world that surrounds us here at home. It’s a call to appreciate our limited natural resources and a reminder that profound beauty is often waiting right in our own backyard. I hope my work allows you to bring a piece of that quiet wonder into your own space.
