Finding Beauty in Brown: A Late Winter Hike & Photo Critique in the Minnesota River Valley
Working Through Harsh Light and Lack of Color
The Minnesota landscape in late winter can be, well, brown. Very brown. But as a landscape photographer, I believe there's beauty to be found in every season. Join me on my latest YouTube adventure as I explore the Minnesota River Valley State Recreation Area, and attempt to capture the subtle beauty of this often-overlooked time of year.
In this video, I share my thoughts and critiques as I navigate the area, battling harsh sunlight and a lack of colors. I decided to embrace the challenge and experimented with high-contrast edits using the Classic Chrome profile on my Fujifilm camera. From capturing the stark silhouettes of trees against the blue sky to spotting a young eagle, I'll walk you through some of my favorite images from the day.
